Today, on Memorial Day across the United States, I met someone that epitomizes the word (and definition) of “service.”

I stopped into the Sunrift Beer Company in Kalispell today to check out another one of the amazing local breweries in Northwest Montana and was honored to have Logan as my bartender. Not only was Logan a tremendous representative of the staff at the brewery, suggesting the perfect brews for me to enjoy to satisfy my preferences for a hoppy ale, but he was also exactly what you seek in a great bartender; a great listener, attentive attendant, and local ambassador for Northwest Montana.

What is service?

According to the Meriam Webster dictionary, one of the definitions of “service” is “contribution to the welfare of others.” Here’s just a few things I learned about Logan and his propensity for serving others in my short time at the brewery;

  • He’s a local Montanan who served the country as a member of the United States Marine Corps. #Hoorah
  • He is an active member of the Flathead County Sherriff’s Department
  • He is a husband
  • He is a father to 5 children between the ages of 18 and 10 (including 4 boys!!!)
  • He is an amazing bartender. He is knowledgeable about his product and happy to educate his patrons to make sure they enjoy their experience.

Forget about “Where’s Waldo?” How About “Looking for Logan”?

There is a Logan everywhere. There is a Logan in your town. The occupations might be different… but the heart of “service” is how they do what they do. It’s really all they know.

Do you know him or her?

Should you?

Find the Logan of your community and say “thank you,” and then do what they do for someone else. When you look for or find people in your community being #blogworthy – a.k.a “worth talking about”, you’ll start becoming more #blogworthy yourself.

Trust me…it’ll make a difference.
