[This is not a Yelp! Review…but it could be]

Yogi’s is a local neighborhood spot that has become one of our “go-to spots.” We go there regularly, but I wouldn’t say we’re “regulars.”

It’s one of those places that always has the game on, a solid selection of draft beers, and an enjoyable menu you don’t really get tired of. There’s usually a pretty good crowd, but we’ve never not been able to get a table.

Once you get settled in, you’re sure to see him.

If he’s not working the room and greeting patrons or assisting one of the many attentive team members with food and drink orders, he’s probably over in the corner watching the room.

You’ll know he’s there, and not because of the dreadlocks. You can see his smile from the moment you walk through the front door.

Moran is the manager at Yogi’s. He goes by “Mo,” and he’s a big reason the place gets so many returning guests and stays on the short list of answers to, “Where should we go for dinner?”

As a former server myself, back in my college days and post-grad life, I really appreciate a manager who has a presence in the room.

Look up and you’ll see Mo helping behind the bar when the drink orders start stacking up. He’ll run food from the kitchen to the tables. He’s there to fill drinks, grab extra napkins, or bring you some ranch dressing.

Yogi’s doesn’t host karaoke nights, but when a good song comes on, you’re likely to see Mo singing along.

What’s your M.O.?

Have you ever thought about your modus operandi?

What are the little things you do each day that make people take notice? Do you show up with a smile people can feel? Can your customers, clients, and community feel your passion and enthusiasm? Do you instill confidence and excitement in the people around you?

There’s MOre to the Story…

We recently found out that the leadership team has tapped Mo as the manager of their next location, opening next month on the other side of town.

Wise move.

They know Mo will bring his experience and, more importantly, his positive attitude and exemplary leadership to the new location. He’ll help establish teamwork and customer service from day one. He’ll be a major factor in turning first-time guests into long-time customers.

And back at the current location, the bartenders and servers we see, along with the kitchen staff and personnel we don’t, will no doubt continue delivering on the high bar Mo helped establish.

We’re gonna miss seeing Mo when we go back to Yogi’s, but we’ll still get to enjoy the “Mo-mentum” he helped create.
