I’m so tired of the non-stop political ads filling our TVs, radios, internet feeds, and even our text messages.

And it’s only going to get worse over the next several weeks as we get closer to the midterm elections here in the United States.

I think my biggest problem with political ads is that politicians rarely seem to talk about what they are going to do. They spend their commercial time (and money) talking about what their opponent is going to do. Or what they haven’t done.

How about telling your audience what you do?

Focus on the positives and how you’re going to help people get where they want or need to be.

Use your manners.

Know your stuff.

Show up on time.

Return calls promptly.

Listen.

Earn trust. Never simply expect it.

Communicate with people the way they want to be communicated with.

Anticipate people’s needs.

Underpromise, overdeliver.

I guess you could add build relationships, solve problems, and have fun.

Sounds like a platform you could build a pretty great campaign on.

I’m Sean Carpenter, and I approve this message.
