Come Together

They were just 15 and 16 years old, and clearly had no idea of the impact they would have on history.

When John Lennon and Paul McCartney met for the first time on this date in 1957, they were just kids. Paul had come to see John’s band, the Quarrymen, play at a church garden party in Liverpool, England.

That meeting sparked a relationship between two of the most prolific singer-songwriters in music history. Their partnership would span decades and reach hundreds of millions of ears. Future generations of musicians would be, and will continue to be, inspired by their collaborations.

They wrote songs that reached #1 on the charts in both the U.S. and Britain, along with many more that will live forever on playlists, jukeboxes, and in the hearts of music fans everywhere.
