The big game is coming up on Sunday. It’s Super Bowl LVIII and it’ll feature the AFC Champion Kansas City Chiefs facing off against the NFC Champion San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The player’s skills and execution will determine who wins the game but the head coaches on the sidelines will do their best to motivate, inspire, and put the players in the best position to win.

If the players listen to their coaches, they just might have the keys to victory.

“Gentlemen, we will chase perfection, and we will chase it relentlessly, knowing all the while we can never attain it. But along the way, we shall catch excellence.” – Vince Lombardi, Green Bay Packers, Super Bowl I Champions (1967)

“The ultimate goal is victory. And if you refuse to work as hard as you possibly can toward that aim, or if you do anything that keeps you from achieving that goal, then you are just cheating yourself.”
– Don Shula, Miami Dolphins, Super Bowl VII Champions (1973)

“Good things happen to those who hustle.”
– Chuck” Noll, Pittsburgh Steelers, Super Bowl XIV Champions (1980)

“Concentrate on what will produce results rather than on the results, the process rather than the prize.”

“A winning effort begins with preparation.”
– Joe Gibbs, Washington Redskins, Super Bowl XVII Champions (1983)

“Losers assemble in small groups and complain; winners assemble as a team and find ways to win.”
– Bill Parcells, New York Giants, Super Bowl XXI Champions (1987)

“Treat a person as he is, and he will remain as he is. Treat a person as if he were where he could be and should be, and he will become what he could be and should be.”
– Jimmy Johnson, Dallas Cowboys, Super Bowl XXVII Champions (1993)

“When you believe in yourself and the people you surround yourself with, you will win something really big someday.”
– Richard “Dick” Vermeil, St. Louis Rams, Super Bowl XXXIV Champions (2000)

“Talent sets the floor, character sets the ceiling.”
– Bill Belichick, New England Patriots, Super Bowl XXXIX Champions (2005)

“Winning is what happens when commitment, desire, talent, preparation, hard work, and leadership all come together.”
– Tom Coughlin, New York Giants, Super Bowl XLII Champions (2008)

“Each person holds so much power within themselves that needs to be let out. Sometimes they just need a little nudge, a little direction, a little support, a little coaching, and the greatest things can happen.”
– Pete Carroll, Seattle Seahawks, Super Bowl XLVIII Champions (2014)

Who knows what Andy Reid might say to his Chiefs or if Kyle Shanahan will have anything historic to charge his Niners into action? History will let us know.

People speak all the time.

The question is…are you listening?
