There’s the classic costumes like a witch, a ghost, or a cowboy. Characters like Super Mario, Buzz Lightyear, or Spongebob Squarepants are always fan favorites. Current pop culture outfits might include Ted Lasso, Barbie, Taylor Swift, or Travis Kelce.

But once, Halloween is over and we start looking ahead to Thanksgiving, Hannukah, Christmas and soon the new year, what costume do you intend to wear?

Of course, you’re going to show up every day in your role as a Realtor, team leader, branch manager, broker, or affiliate. That’s your old stand-by costume. That’s who you are “behind the mask.”

It’s what people in your community have come to expect.

Are there any other costumes, outfits, or characters you might need to consider to have success in the changing environment of real estate?

A sales and marketing specialist? A consultant or advisor? A psychologist, psychiatrist, or counselor?

Are you active in your local charities or serve as a volunteer at your children’s or grandchildren’s school? How do you show up to help or participate at your church, mosque, synagogue, or house of worship?

Are you a hand-written note expert in the morning, a busy phone operator in the middle of the day, and an e-mail marketer late in the afternoon?

Will you be a host for breakfast, coffee, lunch, or happy hour? Are you an actor, dancer, spokesperson, or narrator on a video for YouTube, Reels, or TikTok?

Of course, it’s important to remember to be a good spouse, partner, parent, child, or sibling, and everyone loves it when you dress up as a good listener, someone who shares, or a loyal friend.

Remember that when you wear all of these costumes throughout the course of a year, you show up for your customers and clients as advisors, guides, storytellers, and superheroes.

It seems you’re going to have lots of choices.

I sure hope you have a big closet, lots of make-up, plenty of confidence, and a creative imagination.
