Monday Morning Match is a quick post – maybe a quote, inspirational story or idea – intended to spark some motivation inside each of you so your week gets off to a fantastic start on Monday morning.

Believe It…

“It’s not even 5 o’clock in the morning,” someone will groggily exclaim today as they head downstairs for the big reveal. Many will be celebrating “firsts” this Christmas with a new child, a spouse or in a new home, state or country. Watching children’s eyes bulge at the wrapped gifts surrounding the tree as they race to uncover what lies underneath is a feeling that high-definition TVs couldn’t replace.

You better believe it. Santa Claus was here!

…or Not

Christmas sure changes when your children are past the age when they believe in Santa Claus. There’s no late night tiptoeing around to place gifts under the tree (sometimes requiring the balance and dexterity of a ballet dancer to avoid the squeaky floorboard in the family room so as not to wake the youngsters sleeping above). There’s no more being awakened by the toddler standing beside the bed before the sun is up asking “is it time to get up and go downstairs.” Batteries aren’t on the “must have” list and nothing needs to be built, constructed or staged for the ultimate first impression.

But no matter how early you woke up or how late you slept in; how much preparation went into wrapping presents or how much you planned the festivities; it’s still Christmas. It comes once a year whether you believe it or not.

Sure, the magic and excitement might not be there for everyone but if everyone is there, that might be all the magic you need.

Christmas is probably less about the presents for everyone and more about the presence of everyone.

Whether you’re up early or slept in late, reading this at home or from miles away, I hope you’ll believe me when I say that I wish you and your loved ones a Merry Christmas and a blessed conclusion to your year.

Let’s all finish the year strong and keep building relationships, solving problems and having fun.

Merry Christmas everyone!
