The Little Girl is All Grown Up
Today is Nadia Comaneci’s 51st birthday. Most people will remember the Romanian gymnast as the 14 year old little girl when she was the darling of the Summer Olympics that were hosted by Montreal in 1976.
Comaneci became the first female gymnast to earn a perfect 10 in a routine in Olympic history. It was such an unexpected event that Omega SA, the makers of the scoreboards at the Olympics, asked before the Olympics if they needed to have 4 digits for their display and were told that a perfect 10.00 was not possible.

There is no doubt that Nadia Comaneci envisioned herself doing a flawless routine that night on the uneven bars. She dreamed of hitting all of her marks, connecting on all of her “releases” and landing the dismount with confidence and style.
It’ easy to see now that she earned the 10.00 many times before she earned it in real life.
