The grass is slowly growing. You might not notice it every day, but there’s a little more green showing, and some of the muddy patches are starting to fill in. You’ll probably start your lawnmower before the end of the month.
The first signs of floral blooms are poking their green shoots through the soil. Early leaf buds are forming at the ends of branches. Birds seem to be singing just a bit louder in the mornings.
Spring is upon us here in the Midwest, and it’s always a welcome sight for those of us who don’t exactly love winter. Down South, temperatures are heating up and traffic is getting a little more congested as Spring Breakers head down I-95 and I-75, bringing along their SPF-50 for a few days in the sunshine.
Are You Ready to Tend to Your Garden?
What seeds will you have popping through the ground in the next few weeks?
Will any of those conversations you had last fall or winter be ready to turn into April appointments?
Who in your tribe might be coming to a fork in the road as a life change becomes a new problem to solve?
It might be a good problem like a new job, a wedding, or a new baby.
Or perhaps it’s one of those problems no one wants. Death, divorce, downsizing, or foreclosure could be in someone’s future.
Of course, you could always plant some new seeds today, this week, or this month. They might not bring a harvest this spring, but I’m guessing you’d be just fine with some fresh opportunities showing up this summer or fall.

The singing birds and bright sunshine might wake us up each day, but it’s up to us to put on those overalls and grab our gardening gloves.
Let’s start watering, fertilizing, and pruning for the fresh blooms coming our way.
