Monday Morning Match is a quick post – maybe a quote, inspirational story or idea – intended to spark some motivation inside each of you so your week gets off to a fantastic start on Monday morning.

I had a really good Father’s Day yesterday. I played a round of golf with my brother, went shopping with my wife, spent the afternoon hanging out at home with my kids and watched the final round of the US Open. I visited my Dad at the cemetery and shared my traditional beer with him by his grave under sunny skies. We cooked out, Ronda made Rice Krispie Treats for dessert, and I got to enjoy a few craft beers that the girls brought back from their visit to South Carolina last week. Like I said, it was a really good Father’s Day.

To say my golf game has been struggling this year would be an understatement, yet yesterday, I played one of the best rounds of the year. Maybe the rainbow as I arrived at the course was a good sign? Looking back on my great round, it was easy to realize why I played so well; I was relaxed, stayed focused from start to finish and executed on the “basics.”

Maybe that’s a good reminder for me this week as I get back to work. Relax, stay focused and execute on the “basics”?  If I can get it to work as successfully as it did on the golf course, maybe I’ll refer to it as the “Father’s Day Secret“?

In fact, that just might be a good reminder for us all. Well, along with building relationships, solving problems and having fun.
