Monday Morning Match is a quick post – maybe a quote, inspirational story or idea – intended to spark some motivation inside each of you so your week gets off to a fantastic start on Monday morning.

Have you ever been excited to do something and then for one reason or another, it doesn’t happen? Maybe it was a trip that was canceled last-minute or a round of golf that was rained out? Ever had date night interrupted by sick kids or a purchase that needed to be postponed because a more pressing emergency required the funds elsewhere?

So what did you do when that “thing” didn’t happen? By the sheer fact that your here today, reading this post, it wasn’t the end of your world. Even if you were angry, upset, sad or frustrated, you didn’t let it stop you from moving on with the next thing on your agenda. “Next,” you said, and moved on.

We see these speed-bumps all the time. The buyer we thought was going to write an offer this time out decides to rent for another year. The Seller who you’re sure is going to choose you suddenly remembers that remote family member who will do it for less. The offer that is supposedly on its way never gets put on paper or that appraisal that painfully falls short.  The speaking opportunity that doesn’t happen because the committee “went another direction.”

Next!”

It’s easy to be content with what we have on our agenda for the week but sometimes life doesn’t work out as we planned. Maybe learning to expect the unexpected – both good and bad – is a good strategy. One of my favorite affirmations is “I always do my best because my best is all I can do.”

Keep looking forward because we have more control over what happens next than what just happened. Just make sure you have building relationships, solving problems and having fun on the schedule for this week. Rarely will those activities let you down but even if they do, try ’em again tomorrow.

Rarely will those activities fail to work. If they do, try ’em again tomorrow and remember, life doesn’t always happen like it’s supposed to.
