Monday Morning Match is a quick post – maybe a quote, inspirational story or idea – intended to spark some motivation inside each of you so your week gets off to a fantastic start on Monday morning.

When does your week begin? Are you a Monday through Sunday person or a Sunday through Saturday kind of player? Do you turn the page to the new week on Sunday or is that the day that “last week” ends?

No matter how you look at the week ahead, it’s important that you are looking at the week ahead.

What’s on your calendar? Do you have any deadlines hitting this week? Are there any travel or logistical issues you need to address? Are there some open spaces on the agenda that either need to be filled with more business development activities or are there some gaps that need to be protected for sanity reasons and some time away from the grind of the week? Before you wake up and run blindly into the week ahead, take a moment right now and see what you’re facing. Is it a parade of engagement opportunities and commitments or a black hole of nothing?

Either you control your schedule or someone else will.

Peeking ahead to my week, I see several golf events scheduled but those serve as both business opportunity and relaxing downtime. How I chose to “play” will be determined long before I hit the first tee shot on hole #1. I also see some meetings with current clients, follow-up commitments with former clients, several anniversaries and birthdays of people in my sphere of influence and even a closing on the docket. It all culminates with my daughter’s high school graduation next Sunday.

The next 168 hours of your future begins now.

How will that time be filled? Where will you go? Who will you encounter? Will you spend it wisely or waste it foolishly?

Looks like we all have a busy week ahead but if we’re doing things right, we’ll find some time to build relationships, solve problems and have fun.
