Monday Morning Match is a quick post – maybe a quote, inspirational story or idea – intended to spark some motivation inside each of you so your week gets off to a fantastic start on Monday morning.

Patience, persistence and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success – Napoleon Hill

We’ve become a “need it now” society. “On demand” is a way of the world now and everyone seems to think faster, stronger and better should apply to them. Understanding that the world doesn’t always operate on fast-forward and grant your wishes like the proverbial Genie in the bottle is a great way to succeed without major disappointment.

Almost everything we do can be looked at through the spectrum of a triangle. The wide base of a standard triangle (or pyramid if you’d rather think in 3D) represents all the people while the very tippy top is where the elite few reside. Millions of people golf (the base) but there are only 125 golfers (the apex) who earn a coveted spot on the PGA Tour. Ever dribbled a basketball? See you at the bottom. Lebron James, Steph Curry and the other All-Stars of the NBA are among the top 400 players…in the WORLD!

If poverty level income is at the base, there are only a few people in the penthouse that would be considered the richest. Think of all the musicians in the world and then walk through the halls of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. Consider how many lawyers there are in the United States and then realize there are only 9 on the US Supreme Court.

Two things define you. Your patience when you have nothing and your attitude when you have everything – Unknown

When it comes to real estate, the average agent will close 7-8 transactions this year. Some licensees will close 100’s or 1000’s of deals while much more will close 1 or less. There are always more at the base than at the top.  I’ve had some buyers look at one or two houses and make an offer but more often, I’ve shown potential clients houses for weeks and months. Some listings will sell in 24 hours with multiple offers while others will stay on the market for weeks or months. It doesn’t mean it’s a bad listing, it just might mean you need to have some patience for the right part of the triangle to show up. Remember, if the average days on the market is 45 days, then for every listing that sells in one day, there is another that took 90 days to have the proper perception of value for the right buyer.

To get to the top of the proverbial triangle, pyramid or mountain, it’s going to take practice, hard work, determination and perhaps some luck too. There is no “fast pass” to the top. You’re going to need a plan and lots and lots of patience. Just remember the Egyptians built the pyramids one block at a time, but it was their commitment to staying focused each day that still stands today.

Build relationships, solve problems and have fun this week. If you can do all three, you’ll be moving closer to the top of the triangle than you were when you started the week.

Imagine the view you’ll have when you get to the top.
