Monday Morning Match is a quick post – maybe a quote, inspirational story or idea – intended to spark some motivation inside each of you so your week gets off to a fantastic start on Monday morning.

Seeking guidance?

A few questions to ask yourself when you go to a manager, coach, friend, co-worker or peer for guidance and/or advice…and the answers you need to be ready to hear.

  • Am I going to actually listen to the advice and do something with it?

Answer: If I’m not, I shouldn’t even ask. I’m just wasting my time and the person who is sharing their thoughts, ideas and advice with me.

  • What if I don’t like the answer they give me?

Answer: Was I looking for them to tell me what I wanted to hear or what they felt I needed to hear?  If they are someone worth asking, they are certainly someone worth listening to. Maybe if I were expecting a different answer I need to re-ask the same question a different way and see if the answer they give is the same.

PS – If it is the same no matter how you ask it, I probably have the right answer.

8230723408_5e602d5ec5_zIs it time you start listening to those outside voices you seek…simply because they aren’t listening to the same voices you are?

You can’t ask the farmer if you’re the prettiest unicorn in the world and then be upset when he tells you that you’re just a white horse with a large forehead. If you don’t want answers, stop asking questions.

But remember… the best salespeople ask the most questions.

With who can you build more relationships this week? How can you solve more problems this week? Can you have more fun this week? Drop me a line and tell me who, how and what you’re gonna do. Just don’t ask me for advice…unless you’re willing to take it.
