Monday Morning Match is a quick post – maybe a quote, inspirational story or idea – intended to spark some motivation inside each of you so your week gets off to a fantastic start on Monday morning.

It’s easy to use hyperbole when it suits us. “It’s too hot to cut the grass.” “I’m not going to the gym today because there are never any treadmills available.” “I can’t call the help desk, they will put me on hold forever.” Using over-emphasis helps justify our actions…or sometimes our “inactions.”

Sometimes the exaggerations might sound over the top but they aren’t too far from accurate. “I haven’t called my past clients in years.” “I can’t remember the last time I held an open house.” “I have thousands of unread emails.”

“It is what it is,” has become such a popular phrase lately because it really boils things down to simplicity. Stop over thinking things or making them bigger than they really are.  Stay focused on the work that needs to get done.

If you really feel the need to emphasize something, build relationships, solve problems and have fun and make it the best week ever!
