Monday Morning Match is a quick post – maybe a quote, inspirational story or idea – intended to spark some motivation inside each of you so your week gets off to a fantastic start on Monday morning.

Most days I don’t feel “old.” Sure, my age is creeping towards that magical 50 mark over the next few years but I try to keep a youthful spirit and positive attitude. They say “age is just a number” but there is no arguing with the aches and pains a body develops as you grow older. I’m not sure if it’s the 48+ years or the strain of technology screens but I have been grabbing my IMG_9403reading glasses more and more these days.

I keep a pair near my chair where I read and watch TV, I keep a pair in my computer bag for work and I recently asked my wife to grab me another pair for me to keep down by my laptop in my home office. Between my pairs and those belonging to her, we are starting to look like a Pearle Vision outlet.

There’s no shame in wearing these “cheater” glasses. It’s better than squinting at your book or iPhone or laptop and ending up with a headache all day, right? The great news is they are so inexpensive that you can grab those extra pairs for all those places you just might need them.

Look Around

What are the tools you use to help you “see” your business better and avoid the headaches from missed opportunities?

Do you have pads of paper or notebooks lying around or do you utilize Evernote or the Notes app on your phone? Maybe you’re like my friend Michael who has white boards in almost every place he might stop to get work done. There is something to be said about putting something in writing and allowing your subconscious to envision the end result.

There is nothing like a sharpened pencil or are you more of a ball point pen person? Do you use the camera on voice memo tools on your phone? When was the last time you asked Siri to remind you of something? You do utilize a daily schedule or calendar, right?

If you were so inclined to send someone a hand-written note today, how long would it take you to find a suitable piece of stationary or note card? Is your database within arms reach at any given moment – either a hard copy, a mobile device or your DropBox account from any device with wi-fi? You never know when someone’s name might pop into your head.

The right tool, system or technology just might be the difference between more appointments or more disappointments. You need to build relationships, solve problems and have fun. Look around this week and think about what helpful tools you should make sure are accessible. It would be wise to get them into your routine.

Do you see what I am saying?

Go ahead and grab your cheaters. I’ll wait.
