Monday Morning Match is a quick post – maybe a quote, inspirational story or idea – intended to spark some motivation inside each of you so your week gets off to a fantastic start on Monday morning.

Time for a Talent Assessment

What is it that you are really good at? In other words, if there was one thing about your career that you have the highest confidence in what would that one thing be?

Is it lead generation day in and day out, constantly leading you schedule appointments with potential Buyers and Sellers?

Are you confident in your ability to negotiate, always leading to your clients getting the best deal?

Does your marketing – both property and personal – have a recognizable look and feel so when people see it, they know it is something from you, your team or your brand?

Can you connect with friends and fans on social media without much effort?

When you talk, do people listen?

43 years ago on January 11, 1973, Major League Baseball owners voted to approve the American League’s adoption of the designated hitter rule. The rule allows teams to have a full-time hitter that bats in place of the pitcher. In the older, more traditional National League, the pitcher must still go up to bat when it is his turn in the batting order.

There is a lot of thought by major league managers and GM’s to decide who is the best player for that DH role on the team. In most cases, they choose someone who has great power mixed with a good eye (i.e. “they make contact with the ball”), so they can maximize extra base hits with minimal strikeouts.

The designated hitter doesn’t have to play in the field which means that teams can often use players nearing the end of their career in the role of DH. This can create great team chemistry and also leverage the extensive experience and knowledge of the aging veteran player. In most cases, the DH has the power to hit a home run with any swing of the bat and for this reason, not many of the fans want to leave their seats when the DH is coming to bat.

When You Need a Hit, What’s Your DH?

As you try each day to put yourself in the position to win more listings and score more sales, what skills or talents will you leverage to make sure the bat is the right hands? As you’re building relationships, solving problems and having fun this week, think about what will get you that next big hit.
