IMG_6805It’s Christmas Day 2015. Finding the right sizes for everyone was difficult and wrapping was out of the question but I tried to get something for you that just might help you have an amazing 2016.

Look under the tree and see if you can find it but if not, here’s what I asked Santa to bring all of my Carp’s Corner readers this year for Christmas.

Moxie – Defined simply as a “force of character, determination, or nerve,” it’s time for you to learn from those Star Wars geeks and awaken the force inside you and have your best year yet in 2016.

Enthusiasm – “Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Resilience – This job isn’t easy. Don’t let anyone try to convince you differently. Just keep reminding yourself that it takes 9 “no’s” to get to one “yes.” You don’t want every client…just the good ones.

Recognition – May you earn the spotlight for your hard work and commitment to excellence from your clients and broker but most importantly…your peers.

Youthful Exuberance – May you be dipped in the fountain of youth and bring an extra step of swagger to your job every day and find yourself giggling off the mistakes and squealing with glee at the little victories.

Courage-Quotes-38

Courage – Ask for the appointment. Ask for the sale. Ask for the listing.

Have more fun – It’s amazing how much better any career can be when you truly enjoy what you do. Smile more, worry less.

Relationships – May you continue to find opportunities to build new ones and deepen the ones you already have.

Innovation to do things differently in the new year

Solve more problems – You don’t need all of the answers, you just can’t be afraid to ask lots of the questions.

Trust – When you can earn this from your peers you become the “trusted adviser” of choice in your circle of friends, your neighborhood and your community. Once you have that, you win.

Memory – All of us need a little more space in our brains to remember names, faces and places. It’s one thing to have the birthdays, anniversaries, kids and pets names in our memory banks but having the ability to recall them and reach out to show a personal touch in 2016 could produce the quantum leap your business has been waiting for.

Appointments – Nothing will ever reach the closing table without having these. Each day, put the “appointment hat” on your head and get in the habit of asking “when can we get together to discuss your situation?”

IMG_6806Self Confidence – It all starts with believing in yourself. Your value proposition must begin and end with what you do to make memorable experiences that clients will want to tell others about. You don’t just want to be a Realtor, lender, title rep or trusted adviser. You want to be the best at what you do. Start believing you are and soon you will be.

All you have to do now is clean up the wrapping paper, get dressed and figure out which of your new toys you want to play with first.

Good luck in the new year! I’m sure you’re going to be awesome.
