Monday Morning Match is a quick post – maybe a quote, inspirational story or idea – intended to spark some motivation inside each of you so your week gets off to a fantastic start on Monday morning.

8313144789_82418b3d61_oIn golf today, many of the participants are using range finders to determine the exact yardage they are from the flag stick yet very few people hit their shots the exact distance. Almost everyone seems to take one or two practice swings before every shot yet most fail to replicate their “practice swing” on their actual attempt to hit the ball. In an effort to emulate the PGA professionals they watch on TV, most amateurs read putts from every angle before actually stroking their putts.

Not much different in baseball, is it? Almost every batter steps in and out of the batter’s box between pitches to adjust their helmet, batting gloves or protective cup. Pitchers shake off the catcher’s signals or stretch out each at bat by throwing the ball to first base in an effort to “hold the runner.”

It seems that everyone these days is taking too much time getting ready to get ready. Preparing is one thing but if you’re never pulling the trigger, what good is the preparation? You’ll never hit the target if it’s just ready, aim…

Stop sharpening your pencil and just write the letter. Quit compiling the list and just dial the phone. Pull the car over, put it in park and knock on the door.

Hit the shot. Swing the bat. Ask for the business.

Send the email. Do the work. Hurry up and fire already!

Stop getting ready to get ready. You already are ready. You have been the whole time.

Just start building relationships, solving problems and having fun. Trust me, once you get started with that, everything else comes pretty easy.
