Monday Morning Match is a quick post – maybe a quote, inspirational story or idea – intended to spark some motivation inside each of you so your week gets off to a fantastic start on Monday morning.

Yesterday I was in Cleveland to present at the NAR Tech Edge event. I drove up on Saturday afternoon and enjoyed a casual dinner with my friend Nobu Hata from NAR and afterwards, we walked past the stadiums where the Indians and Cavaliers play. It was nice to get back to my hotel room early and watch some college football games and prepare for my presentation. I set my alarm to wake up early.

As my alarm woke me up at 6:30am, I popped on my sneakers, grabbed my headphones and went out to walk around the city and enjoy the brisk early morning of Northern Ohio. I scrolled through my Podcast library and chose Dave Delaney’s New Business Networking Radio episode where he chatted with entrepreneur, marketer, investor, author and blogger Peter Shankman. With nothing particular I wanted to see and really no time frame or distance that I planned to walk, I headed north from my hotel towards Lake Erie to see what I might find. It was truly one of those “let’s see where the roads may lead me” kind of walks.

Downtown Cleveland has undergone a major renovation and, between the old buildings and new facilities and green spaces, it really has some beautiful sights. As the sun rose in the East, I walked casually past the remodeled Cleveland Convention Center, City Hall and then down to the banks of Lake Erie to walk past the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the Great Lakes Science Center and First Energy Stadium – the home of the Cleveland Browns.

I snapped these photos as I meandered along the streets, between the buildings, through the empty parking lots and along the shore of Lake Erie.

Where are you walking to this week? Are you finding time early in the morning or at the end of the day to refresh yourself? Would adding a moment into your schedule to unplug from your business and plug in to your surroundings help energize you?

Grab your mobile device and head phones and take a walk through your neighborhood or town or local metro park and see if it helps get you focused on what you need to do to build relationships, solve problems and have fun.
