Burning-Match -derek-GaveyMonday Morning Match is a quick post – maybe a quote, inspirational story or idea – intended to spark some motivation inside each of you so your week gets off to a fantastic start on Monday morning.

The NBA playoffs saw several Game 7’s take place this weekend while the NHL had a few occur earlier in the week. These games settled the first-round playoff series that play a “best of 7” format where the first team to get 4 wins advances in the playoffs while the other team goes home and is done for the season. The entire season comes down to one final game. The odds certainly favor the home teams who have the familiar surroundings, sleep at home the night before the game and of course enjoy the fan base cheering for them instead of against them.

Every player knows if they don’t play their absolute best they could be going home. If they make less mistakes than their opponent, there’s a great chance they will be moving on. Sports fans love Game 7’s because the players and coaches have nothing to “save for tomorrow.” Even if you aren’t a fan of the two teams playing, you’ll probably tune in to watch because as a sports fan, you’re going to see 100% effort on both sides of the ice/court/field.

“The pressure is on.”

“It’s for all the marbles.”

“This is what it’s all come down to.”

“This is winner take all.”

How are you treating your real estate business? Are you just showing up to play each morning and seeing what the day may bring or do you have a specific game plan laid out that is maximizing your chances of securing new business? Are you putting the basics into action every day to give yourself more chances of someone saying “yes”, referring you or identifying a need they may have in the near future?

Are you focusing on business development activities knowing that the person who scores more often will win in the long run? Do you studying the local market and trends each day so you can insure yourself a home field advantage when you find yourself in competition?

It’s Game Time

It might not feel like it but it’s a competitive business out there. Every one of your “opponents” is trying to win the game too. Treating every day like a Game 7 will keep you focused on the skills and execution needed to maximize your chances of winning.

Build relationships, solve problems and have fun.

Then get ready for the next round of action. We’ve got four more games to try to win.
