Burning-Match -derek-GaveyMonday Morning Match is a quick post – maybe a quote, inspirational story or idea – intended to spark some motivation inside each of you so your week gets off to a fantastic start on Monday morning.

How’s Your Health?

We’re all trying to get healthier. Each day we make conscious decisions that could lead to a better life, both personally and in our business. The more opportunities we give ourselves to, the easier we’ll be able to breathe. It’s when we don’t act proactively that we put ourselves in position to feel some pain.

We enjoy those days when our health is great and our business is plentiful. It’s easy to skip a day of exercise, a glass of juice or a vitamin supplement just like when we have a pipeline full of buyers and a solid inventory of listings that making those lead generation calls seem unnecessary.

“Who me?” we say to ourselves. “I’m feeling good about my health. I don’t need to do anything right now.”

Then just like that, we start making some poor decisions. Fast food replaces home cooked meals. We replace a glass of water with another soda. Our regularly scheduled business development activities get pushed aside for all that business support we have to do in order to get our current deals to the closing table.

It’s Nothing to Sneeze At

Here it comes. That familiar dip in energy, our stamina wanes and our leads start to dry up. We begin to feel some aches and pains but we scoff it off. ” I don’t have time to get sick now,” we think. “I’m too busy and don’t want to stop the momentum.” We toss back a few aspirin or chug a 5-Hour Energy drink,  hold an open house or two or send out a few extra Just Listed cards to Unknown Acres, thinking if we can just make it through these next few closings, we’ll have time to get back into the swing of things. We’ll start eating healthy again…tomorrow.

We end up tossing and turning over many sleepless nights. Stress sets in and our systems begin breaking down. We reach for quick fixes and do everything we can but ask for help from a manager, coach or doctor. Until finally, our weakness wins and we need to throw up the white flag. We knew the sickness was coming but we tried to ignore it.

We’ve seen it happen before which makes it even more frustrating because we259502894_f3e435ebd8_z should have learned. The good news is there are lots of remedies, cures and medicines out there to cure our coughs, aches and pains. Sometimes a little sickness and down time can help us get refocused and ready for our next stretch of good health.

If you’re starting to feel a little cough in your business, there’s a simple prescription: Build relationships, solve problems and have fun.

Take two and call someone in the morning.

You’ve connected personal health and business success nicely. It’s a formula that’s always worked for me.
