It’s time to get re-focused. It’s time to get committed. It’s time to make something awesome happen.

It’s time to join others to share in the accountability and fun.

Below is the post I wrote on April 30th, 2012. Rather than re-write the entire story, I’ll just let last year’s words say it (with some subtle updates).

It’s called “Who’s with Me?”

Commitment is a big word whether you’re talking about personal relationships or a cable tv agreement. The idea of sticking with one thing for an extended period of time can be scary. Hell, we don’t even like to wait at a restaurant if the wait is longer than 20 minutes.

That’s why most diets don’t work. Or prospecting plans for Realtors.

The old saying “take it one day at a time” is some pretty good advice when you’re looking to make any kind of change in your routine or habits so I’m issuing a challenge to you for the next 31 days.

It’s called #EveryDayInMay and it’s about committing to something…anything…that you feel, if you could do it daily for the next month, would make you better than when you started.

3414064391_b18b99d7b5_zFor me, it will be my 5th year of #EveryDayInMay and my mission is to run a minimum of 1 mile each and every day. Sure, one mile is easy but I have to establish some parameters so I can’t weasel out on a day when I am feeling lazy and just jog once around the block. The fact of the matter is, by the end of the month, I’ll probably be running close to 4 or 5 miles a day.

I’m not seeking anything specific for my efforts. The days of me longing for a set of “six pack” abs are long gone, and honestly, I’d be perfectly content with something remotely close to a “12-pack.” Anything less than this “pony keg” I’ve been carrying around for the last few months would be great.

They say “the more the merrier” so if you’re up for the challenge, let me know what you’re going to do each day and then chime in below in the comments section or better yet, send me a tweet on Twitter and add the hashtag #EDIM. I’ll follow you back if I am not already and we can encourage each other throughout the month.

Then each day, when you’ve completed your task, send a tweet out to your followers and add the #EDIM at the end.

It won’t be easy but that’s what will make it rewarding. I once wrote a great post about the legend of Sisyphus from mythology and his efforts to #PushThatRock up the hill. He did it over and over and over. Every time he stopped, the rock rolled back down and he had to begin again.

I start pushing that rock today.

Who’s with me?

So what do you think? Are you up for the challenge?

Send me an email, follow the group encouragement on Twitter or look for my posts on Facebook.

Think of how proud of yourself you’ll be on June 1st when you say you did something good for yourself #EDIM
