Merry Christmas!

I hope you are enjoying your holiday season with family and friends and getting a chance to unwind and reflect back on the year. It’s always a busy time between finishing up your work, welcoming guests into your home, catching up with relatives and neighbors and surviving the annual shopping frenzy.

While it may be a cliché, this time of year is always a great reminder that “it’s better to give than receive.” So when I heard what one of my friends did this year, I was so proud of her and impressed with her genuine desire to give to people with no expectations of receiving anything back, it made me want to share her story.

Pay it Forward

Sara Farrell is a new Realtor with Coldwell Banker King Thompson, my local company here in Columbus. She’s doing a great job getting her business up and running while learning to balance her family, social and private life. As someone who has a birthday on December 23rd, Sara has had her share of disappointing birthdays but this year, she decided to take a different approach. This year wasn’t going to be a birthday focused on Sara.

Instead, Sara spent her birthday focusing on others.

A Carp’s Corner tip of the hat goes out to Sara and all those out there who seek to deliver random acts of kindness on a regular basis. It’s kind of funny how much the good deeds and karma you send out seem to make their way back to you.

As I finished shooting this video and running some last-minute holiday errands, I decided to visit the Starbucks drive-thru. I had already decided that, thanks to Sara’s example, I was going to surprise the driver behind me by paying for their order. And wouldn’t you know it? As I approached the window ready to “pay it forward,” the barista smiled and let me know that the car in front of me had paid for my drink.

Thanks again for your loyal readership. I hope Carp’s Corner is able to give you inspiration, ideas or just a smile as you do your part to serve your clients and become better each day.

Build relationships, solve problems, have fun and have a Merry Christmas.
